The front door of Les Châtaigniers opens into a spacious open-plan room with a sitting area and a kitchen. The sitting area is furnished with a double sofa bed, two chairs and a bench. It is equipped with a colour TV (currently French channels only), a VCR, a DVD, a mini-hifi with CD and tape decks. There is also an extra radio to receive Radio 4 on LW (just in case you want to keep up with the news). In addition, there are jigsaws, board games and good books to curl up with, along with a selection of DVDs, videos and CDs.The staircase up to the first floor is in the main room. A safety gate can be provided, although it should be noted that it is possible for a young child to get under the staircase - full supervision is therefore necessary to avoid accidents.
The kitchen area has a four-ring cooker hob (three are gas and the fourth is electric), an electric oven, a microwave and a fridge-freezer. You will also find a kettle, a teapot, a coffee maker and a full range of cooking utensils, saucepans and casserole dishes. The well-equipped laundry room at the rear of the house has a washing machine and a dishwasher. Adjacent to the kitchen area is a shower room with a full-size shower cubicle, a vanity unit and a WC.
The dining area is in the sunny, glazed conservatory. All the double-glazed windows in the house can be opened fully or tilted. They are also fitted with shutters which provide security and help to keep the house cool in the summer. There is electric heating available should there be a cool evening.
The first floor has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with twin beds) and a mezzanine area with a daybed. The cosy master bedroom has a double bed, ample storage space and a smart en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has twin beds and lovely views of the garden. It is slightly larger than the master bedroom and also has a wardrobe with enough storage space to share with guests in the mezzanine area.
